In July 2016 Katrin Boeckh and Guido Hausmann have founded at the IOS a new Interdisciplinary Study Group Ukraine. The Study Group is critically tied to longer traditions of research on Ukraine going back to the Osteuropa-Institut, a predecessor institute of the IOS. It takes up the rising current interest in the political, economic and historical-cultural developments of Ukraine in general and at IOS. It comprehends itself as a loose network and an institutional basis for various Ukraine related activities and has organized and co-organized since its establishment a number of scholarly and public events.
